When you visit a new city, you may need to ask for directions. In the west, people usually say "Excuse me" first. Then they ask in a polite way, such as "Could you tell me where the restroom is?"

Polite questions are usually longer and softer. Instead of "Where is the bank?", we say "Do you know where the bank is?" The answer is also given politely, with a smile and sometimes a helpful hand.

Remember to use words like "please", "pardon" and "thank you". If you do not hear clearly, say "Pardon?" politely. A polite request makes the staff happy to help you.

陈述语序
where the bank is(不是 is the bank)
主谓顺序
💡 疑问词引导的宾语从句必须用陈述语序。
