Li Lei's grandfather was a farmer who had worked the land for sixty years. This weekend, Li Lei brought his friends to the countryside to experience farming. No chemical fertilisers, no harm to the earth. But they need more labour and patience, so the cost is higher and the profit smaller.' The students wrote down every word like eager reporters. Jack nodded, remembering the chapter on organic farming in their textbook.

Cozy teacher, who had come along, told them about hunger and poverty around the world. 'Great scientists such as Yuan Longping dedicated their whole lives to feeding people,' she said. 'Their work was a quiet revolution that brought reform and hope to countless villages.' Han Mei looked at the golden fields and understood: every grain carries a story of struggle and science.

Han Mei interviewed Grandfather about the changes he had seen. 'Income has risen, and machines have replaced heavy labour,' he said. 'New policies helped our village build roads and schools, and young people are coming back to start businesses. Rural life is not what it used to be — it is booming.' The students exchanged amazed glances. Han Mei wrote down his words carefully, because she knew she would need them for her report.

That evening, they ate vegetables they had picked with their own hands. Everything tasted wonderful. As the sun set over the fields, Li Lei said quietly, 'I used to think farming was simple hard labour. Now I know it is a science that feeds the world.' Grandfather patted his shoulder. 'The land never lies,' he said. 'It rewards those who respect it.' The rice tasted sweet, and the evening felt like a small festival.
