Lily has loved singing since she was a child. She enjoys practising in front of the mirror, and she keeps improving her voice every day. Last term, she made a big decision: she wanted to start a band. 'Playing music with friends must be amazing,' she told herself. What she did not expect was that her simple idea would change the lives of four students and fill the whole school with joy.
Lily asked her friends to join. Jack, who plays the guitar, agreed at once, and Li Lei, a born drummer, was eager to try. Han Mei, who can sing the highest notes, became the second voice. The four of them preferred writing original songs to copying famous ones. Their style was a mix of folk and rock, full of energy and hope. Every afternoon after class, the school music room was filled with their laughter and notes.
At first, their playing was far from perfect. The drums were too loud, the guitar was out of tune, and the singers often forgot the words. But Cozy, their English teacher, encouraged them. 'A band is like a family,' he said. 'Everyone has a role, and every role is important. Keep practising, learn from each other, and you will find your own voice.' His words gave the young musicians confidence and a positive attitude towards every mistake.
The school music festival finally arrived. The moment the four students walked onto the stage, the hall became silent. Lily took a deep breath, and the first note rose into the air. They played their own song, 'The Rhythm of Our Youth', with all their heart. The audience was deeply moved; some students even stood up and clapped along. After the performance, the band was given a special award for their amazing creativity and spirit.
The award was more than a prize; it was an achievement that none of them would forget. 'I used to be so shy that I could hardly sing in public,' Han Mei said with tears in her eyes. 'Now I know that music is a language of the heart.' Lily smiled and added, 'We admire every musician who keeps chasing their dream. And we will never stop, because the joy of making music together is the greatest treasure of our youth.'
