'Guess what! I have just come back from Guilin,' Han Mei announced at the class meeting. 'I have seen the most amazing landscape in my life — green hills rising out of the misty river.' Li Lei's eyes lit up. 'I have never been to the south,' he said. 'Last summer, I only visited my grandparents in a small village. But my journey there taught me a lot about farming.'
Jack raised his hand and shared his own experience. 'I spent two years in London before moving to China,' he explained. 'I have visited many museums there, but the one I remember best is the Science Museum. You can touch everything! In China, I have already explored three cities — Beijing, Xi'an and Chengdu — and every spot has its own character.' The class listened with wonder.

'Travelling is not only about pleasure,' Cozy said, walking to the board. 'It is also about exchange and understanding. When I was a student, I went to Japan on an exchange programme. That occasion changed my view of the world. I learned that typical local food, familiar customs and ordinary daily life are all part of a country's treasure.' He drew a simple map on the board.
After class, the four friends made an exciting plan. 'Let's save money and take a train to the coast during the winter holiday,' Lily suggested. 'I have always wanted to see the sea at sunrise.' Li Lei laughed. 'I have never watched a sunrise in my life! But I am eager to try.' They agreed to keep a travel journal and to learn some local phrases before every trip, so that every journey would become an adventure.
Now the wall of the classroom is covered with their photos. Han Mei has collected tickets from six provinces, and Jack has bought a map for every city he has visited. 'The world is a book,' Cozy said on the last day of the term, 'and those who do not travel read only one page.' The students nodded. They had learned that the joy of travelling lies not in the destination, but in every person they meet along the way.
