Reading: The Window to the World
Reading is one of the most important skills in learning English. In the exam, reading comprehension takes a large part of the score. But reading is not only for exams; it opens a window to the whole world.
阅读是学英语最重要的技能之一。考试中，阅读理解占很大分值。但阅读不只是为了考试，它打开了通向整个世界的一扇窗。
Good readers read with a purpose. Before reading, they look at the questions or the title. They think: what is the general idea of this passage? What do I want to find out? This makes reading faster and smarter.
好的读者带着目的阅读。读之前，他们先看题目或标题，思考：这篇文章的主旨是什么？我想找到什么？这使阅读更快更聪明。
When you meet a new word, do not stop and worry. Guess its meaning from the background and the sentences around it. Many words can be understood without a dictionary. Your brain is a better tool than you think.
遇到生词时，不要停下来发愁。根据背景和周围句子猜测词义。很多词不用词典也能理解。你的大脑是比你想象的更好的工具。
Different questions need different skills. For detail questions, go back to the exact position in the passage. For main idea questions, check the first and last paragraphs. For word questions, examine the sentence carefully.
