The lights went down, and the documentary began with a single image: a blue so deep it seemed to swallow the screen. 'We have better maps of Mars than of our own ocean floor,' the narrator said. 'More than eighty percent of the sea has never been seen by human eyes.' Jack leaned forward. 'The blue frontier,' he whispered. Han Mei, who loved marine science, was already taking notes. The blue of the screen stayed in their minds long after the lights came up.

The film followed a team of scientists aboard a research vessel, lowering a remote underwater robot into the dark. At two thousand metres, the robot's lights revealed a world of wonders: translucent creatures drifting like flowers, fish with lanterns on their heads, and glassy shrimps that had never seen sunlight. 'Every dive is a first visit,' one scientist said. 'We are explorers on a planet we still do not know.'
But the beauty was shadowed by loss. The film showed coral reefs bleached white by warming waters, and a whale tangled in plastic netting. 'The ocean gives us every second breath we take,' the narrator said. 'Yet we treat it as a dumping ground.' The classroom was silent. Han Mei put down her pen. 'Adaptation takes millions of years,' she said quietly. 'Destruction takes a decade.'

The second half of the film offered hope. Scientists were mapping the ocean floor with new technology, tracking whale migrations with satellites, and discovering species that could produce new medicines. A young engineer showed a robot that could remove plastic from the deep sea. 'The same technology that harmed the ocean,' she said, 'can be used to heal it.' The second half of the film was watched with new eyes, and hope felt possible again.
Cozy teacher paused the film and asked: 'What does the ocean mean to you?' Jack answered first: 'It is the last wild place.' Lily said: 'It is the memory of the earth.' Han Mei said: 'It is a library we have barely opened.' Li Lei was silent for a moment, then said: 'It is a mirror. When we look at the ocean, we see what we have become.' The class sat with that thought.

The film ended with a question: 'The ocean covers seventy percent of our world. How much of it will we protect?' The next day, the class started a marine club. Their first project: adopting a stretch of coast and mapping its ecology. 'We cannot explore the deep sea yet,' Han Mei said, 'but we can protect the shore. And every shore is where the deep sea begins.' The club's first meeting was so crowded that students sat on the floor.

to do / doing / done(作主语、宾语、定语、状语、补语)
Exploring the deep sea requires courage and technology.
The robot designed to clean plastic is very efficient.
Having explored the reef, the team returned with samples.
When (it is) compared with the ocean, the land seems small.
You may go if you want to (go).
(You) Come and see the robot!
