The Final Countdown
The banner across the school gate read: '100 Days to the Gaokao'. The numbers seemed to glow, and the whole school felt the shift. The four friends met on the rooftop after class, looking at the city below. 'One hundred days,' Jack said. 'That sounds like a lot and nothing at the same time.' Han Mei nodded. 'The marathon is almost over. Now comes the sprint — but a smart sprint, not a panicked one.'

Lily laughed through her tears.
